Melissa A. Ciminelli 1975-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Melissa A. “Missy” Ciminelli, 49, of Youngstown’s West Side, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Sept. 17, 2025, at Hospice House, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Melissa was born Dec. 22, 1975, in Youngstown, a daughter of David Pflugh and Kathleen Krugel Pflugh, and was a lifelong area resident.
She attended Austintown Fitch High School and graduated from Boardman High School in 1995. Missy devoted 19 years to the Davis YMCA, where she worked as a preschool teacher and camp coordinator. To the children she cared for, she was lovingly known as “Miss Missy.”
She was a member of St. Blaise Parish-Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Missy touched countless lives through her patience, kindness and genuine love for others. Her warm personality and bright spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Outgoing and full of life, she treasured time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, listening to music and spreading her light and laughter wherever she went.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 26 years, John L. “Jack” Ciminelli, whom she married June 12, 1999; her son, Nicolas Ciminelli of Youngstown; her father, David Pflugh of Boardman; her mother, Kathleen Pflugh of Austintown; her brother, David (Tracey) Pflugh of Salem; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown.
Interment will follow in Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown.
Missy’s love, laughter and light will continue to shine through the many lives she touched, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
