Ivan Jackson 1958-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Ivan Jackson, 67, a resident of Youngstown and Cleveland, departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at the Louis Stokes Veterans Medical Center.
He was the beloved son of Mary Jackson Grace and McCalter Jackson Sr., both of whom preceded him in death.
Ivan was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was a student at Chaney High School, where he was an exceptional basketball player before transferring to South High School to further pursue his passion for the sport, graduating in 1976.
Shortly after completing his studies, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Later, he attended Imperial Valley College in El Centro, California, where he earned both his associate and bachelor’s degrees.
Ivan leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kia Buggs, Brandy Buggs, Ivan Buggs, Adrian Huff, Kalyn Huff, Jon-Erik Huff, Danielle Crafter, ShaNae Jackson and Anjelica Jackson; siblings, McCalter (Stephane) Jackson Jr., Bernard (Denise) Jackson, Lovie Brown and Brenda (Malcolm) Kimble; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; best friends, Dwaiyne (Dana) Talley; and his God-daughter.
The family will travel to the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, where Ivan will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. A memorial service and repast will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Wick Park Pavilion, 260 Park Ave., Youngstown. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
