COLUMBIANA -- Helen M. Amatore, 102, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025.
Helen was born June 15, 1923, in Youngstown, the daughter of Samuel and Clorinda Caringola Pizzoferrato.
She was a 1942 graduate of Scienceville High School and worked for G.M. McKelvey's Company for five-and-a-half years.
Helen was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica in Youngstown, then St. Jude Catholic Church after moving to Columbiana.
Helen will always be remembered lovingly by three sons, Dominic (Janet) Amatore, Robert (Kathleen) Amatore and James Amatore; two grandchildren, Dominic Amatore and Theresa Amatore; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Dominic Ivan; several loving nieces and nephews; and the many friends she made during her lifetime.
Her husband, Dominic Amatore, whom she married May 23, 1945, passed away, Aug. 21, 1997. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Edward Amatore; sister, Mary Minotti; and brother, Samuel Pizzoferrato.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Chad Johnson presiding.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Whispering Pines, The Inn at Old Saybrook and Ohio Living Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Helen.
