William J. Manser 1949-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — William J. Manser, 75, of Youngstown, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at Hospice House.

He was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Youngstown to Ferris and Sophie Manos Manser and grew up in Coitsville.

Bill graduated from Ursuline High School in 1967 and received a bachelor’s degree in history from Youngstown State University, where he conducted interviews for the university’s oral history project.

He worked at the Sky-Hi Drive-In and was a history teacher. He was a devoted student of history, taking classes toward a master’s degree, and retained scads of knowledge of everything from presidential politics to defunct Ohio high school football conferences.

Bill is survived by his sister, Rose Ann (Chuck) Guerrieri of Newton Falls; sister-in-law, Ann Manser of Wilmington, Delaware; two nephews, Vince (Shannon) of Elyria and Adam Guerrieri of Canfield; niece, Laura Manser of Hawaii and a great-niece, Samantha Guerrieri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley House for their care and compassion. They would also like to thank the staff of 8 South and the Emergency Department of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital — with special thanks to Ana in emergency. And a thank you to the staff of Oasis Center for Rehabilitation and Healing for their care and support.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Bill from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at St. Maron Maronite Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Father Tony Massad as officiant.

A private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s name to St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, OH 44511.
