BLUFFTON, S.C. — William “Bill” Gilboy passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, peacefully with his family at his side, following a short illness.

He was born March 11, 1938, in Youngstown. Bill resided in Bluffton, South Carolina, for the past 22 years and often commented they were the best years of his life.

Bill was a civil engineering graduate of Youngstown University, now Youngstown State University, Class of 1964. He was a project engineer for the Kohler Co. in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, from 1968 to 1973, and returned to Akron in 1973, where he took a position as a plant engineer at Goodyear Aerospace Corporation from 1973 to 1993. From 1993 to 2003, he was employed by Republic Storage Systems in Canton, where he was a structural and sales engineer until his retirement.

Bill was gifted in many ways as an accordion player and an accomplished swing and shag dancer. He had a great singing voice and loved karaoke events. He also treasured golfing with the Hilton Head Rangers every Friday.

He leaves behind two daughters, Lynn (Pat) Ciccantelli of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Margie Haubert of North Canton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Gilboy of Jacksonville, Florida; and loving partner, Flo Deterding.

Bill will be remembered fondly for his gentlemanly ways, quick wit and jokes, love of golf, Cleveland baseball, OSU football and overall zest for life.

His dedication to his daughters was evident to the very end.
