Thomas P. Haney 1945-2025

CANFIELD — Thomas Paul Haney, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 27, 2025, after a brief illness.
Tom was born March 16, 1945, in Youngstown.
He was a lifelong resident of Canfield and a graduate of Canfield High School (Class of 1963), where he played football and was a member of the rifle club.
A proud veteran, Tom served in the United States Air Force and carried a patriotic spirit and deep love for his country throughout his life. He attended Ohio University after serving in the military.
Tom dedicated his career to hard work and helping others. He worked as a facilities manager at the Tiffany Medical Building. Prior to that, he worked as a claims adjuster at Nationwide Insurance. He owned and operated his own businesses throughout his life, including Haney Auto Body in Canfield.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and embarked on memorable adventures in places such as Canada, Montana and even Africa. In his younger years, Tom loved racing Formula Vee race cars. He held several records for many years at Nelson Ledges and beyond.
Tom cherished time with his family above all else. He loved family game nights, watching college sports and sitting around a campfire with his loved ones. He had a daily ritual of playing Yahtzee and solving Jumble puzzles with his wife, Suzie.
Known as a true “Mr. Fix It,” Tom was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Tom was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and colleague, remembered for his generosity, devotion to family and unwavering work ethic.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Haney of Canfield; daughters, Tracy Haney of North Lima and Rachel Kasten of Canfield; and son, Michael Snyder of Canfield. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to his two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah Michalak and Stella Kasten, who were truly the light of his life. Tom also is survived by his sister, Nancy Holderfield of Green and his brother, Jack Haney (Sandra) of Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Lowe Haney, and his brother-in-law, Earl Holderfield.
Calling hours will take place 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home in Canfield, followed by a brief service.
