Sally J. Mentzer 1957-2025

Sally was born May 14, 1957, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Sophie Mihu Motz, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and went on to earn her master’s degree in health and human services from Youngstown State University.

Sally spent many years working for Anthem Insurance Company and was also a proud and devoted homemaker. Sally found joy in the simple pleasures of life — spending time with her family, baking and making the holidays special. Her Christmas cookies were legendary and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her warm smile, friendly nature and zest for life. Sally loved going to the casino for a game of chance and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians. Her vibrant spirit and love for fun touched everyone around her.

Sally leaves behind her beloved son, David (Tammy) Ramun Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (Ty Jefferson) Ramun, Jordan Ramun, Samantha Ramun and Alyssa Kuzan; and her precious great-grandchildren, Silas Ramun and Ty “Junie” Jefferson. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Sue (Bill) Ahlswede, Patty Fuleno and Kathie Motz; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Kimberly Ramun; her brother, John Motz; and her sister, Sherrill Meenahan.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Sally 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
