Rev. William R. Wolfgang 1937-2025
CONCORD TOWNSHIP — The Rev. William R. Wolfgang, formerly of Youngstown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Born May 3, 1937, in Youngstown, he was the son of Ralph and Carrie Alexander Wolfgang.
He was a graduate of the Youngstown South High School, Class of 1955, and then served for three years in the United States Army as a chaplain’s assistant.
In June 1964, he married Judy Williams, enjoying 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2018. He graduated from Covenant College in 1967 and Covenant Seminary in 1970.
The Rev. Wolfgang served as pastor of Fairview Church in Industry, Pa., and then was the pastor for 33 years at Cornerstone P.C.A. Church in Youngstown.
He served as the president of the Hammond Organ Society in Youngstown, board chairman of Meals on Wheels in Mahoning County and as a hospital chaplain for the Organization of Protestant Men.
Since moving to Lake County in 2016, he had been attending Mentor United Methodist Church, where he sang in the Chancel Choir. He also was a Journey Club member and Caring Servant at the church.
Survivors are his daughters, Linda (Andrew) Davis of Dayton and Dr. Amy (Randy) Bender of Concord Township; and grandsons, Ethan, Anderson and Evan Davis, all of Dayton, and Aidan Bender of Concord Township.
His parents and sister, Eileen Tradler, also are deceased.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
His final resting place will be in Concord Township Cemetery.
