Patrick J. Burns 1949-2025

NORTH LIMA — Patrick James Burns, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in North Lima on Saturday morning, July 26, 2025.

Mr. Burns was born June 29, 1949, in Youngstown, a son of Frank and Anna Katherine Sweeny Burns. A Boardman High School graduate, Patrick entered the U.S. Marine Corps in April 1968. After his discharge in April 1971, he worked as a carpenter with the Carpenters Local Union # 171.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and belonged to the Racing Pigeon Club in Lisbon and Sportsman Club in Pennsylvania. He loved nature and was a through-hiker on the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Pat belonged to American Legion Post 290 in Columbiana and was part of the APA (American Pool Players Association). He was in a league at The Stagecoach in North Lima.

Pat leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife, the former Margaret “Marty” Robek, whom he married June 30, 1971, and with whom he just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary; his daughters, Carrie (Jarard G. II) Powers of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Patricia Burns of Struthers and Kristen Burns of Boardman; grandchildren, Jarard G. Powers III, Caleb Godward, Alivia Godward and Michael (Reyna) Nissen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Burns, who passed away Jan. 12, 2019; siblings, Frank Burns, Mary Lou McCarthy and John Burns; and nephew, Patsy McCarthy.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St., North Lima, with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
