Nancy M. Martin 1939-2025

STOW — Nancy Margaret Martin, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, at Arbors at Stow.
Born April 9, 1939, in Point Pleasant, W.Va., she was the daughter of Vernon and Pearl Knapp Miller.
Nancy was a 1958 graduate of Kyger Creek High School. After graduation, she began her career in the insurance industry, working in various offices before becoming a licensed insurance agent. She served clients through Grange Mutual and Nationwide in Point Pleasant, W.Va., and later held an administrative and insurance-related role at Holzer Medical Center. After relocating to Ohio, Nancy worked in sales at Lustig’s Shoe Store.
In 1982, she married the love of her life, Russell Martin, and the two shared 42 wonderful years before his passing on Nov. 30, 2024. Following their marriage, Nancy embraced life as a devoted homemaker.
Nancy was active in her community, serving as past president of the Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association for eight years and as a board member of the 7th Ward Citizens Coalition. She also helped organize the fall car show at her church.
Creative and industrious, Nancy was known for her woodworking talents – crafting original patterns and selling her creations at local craft shows. She was also an excellent seamstress, loved decorating her home (especially during the holidays) and enjoyed helping her husband with yard work.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Halstead (fiance, Dennis Park) of North Carolina; sons Thomas (Mindy) Martin of Gallipolis, Matthew (Allison) Martin of Cheshire and Franklin (Sarah) Panezich of Summerville, South Carolina; stepson, Russell L. (Catherine) Martin of Plant City, Florida; and stepdaughters, Cynthia (Robert) Heck of Poland, Rachel (Gary) Coates of Leland, North Carolina, and Joy (Bradley) Noble of Poland. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Polly (Richard) Myers of Nebraska.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her siblings, Carolyn Smith, John Miller and Vernon Miller; and by her son-in-law, Tim Halstead.
Calling hours will be 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland.
