Nancy J. Alexander 1951-2025

WARREN — Nancy J. Alexander, 74, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Born April 10, 1951, in Youngstown, Nancy was the daughter of the late David H and Ann Kramer. Taking after her father, Nancy was always ready with humorous antics. Her family can only assume she and her father have already toilet-papered the pearly gates and are crouched behind a cloud stifling laughter.

Nancy was a proud graduate of Canfield High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Nancy dedicated 45 years of her life to nursing, working as a registered nurse. She spent the first half of her career as a floor nurse working rotating shifts. After transitioning to an administrative role as a case manager, the family enjoyed the fact that Christmas no longer started at 4 a.m., before her shift. She retired from nursing in 2017.

A woman of deep faith, Nancy was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Warren. She attended regularly, participated in numerous activities and was always willing to offer a helping hand. After its closing, she became a member of Wildare Church in Cortland.

Known for her strength, wisdom, stoicism and wit, Nancy was the heart of her home. When not caring for others at the hospital, she poured her energy into her family. She created a warm, welcoming home, where holidays were celebrated with joy, abundant decorations, delightful meals and unconditional love. Annual traditions included green mashed potatoes on St. Patrick’s Day, pink pancakes on Valentine’s Day, and declaring strong positions regarding the differences between decorations for Autumn, Halloween and Thanksgiving.

She loved gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored (unless they put the roll of toilet paper on backwards).

Nancy will be dearly missed by her husband and best friend of 53 years, Dennis Alexander, whom she married July 15, 1972; her children, Jennifer (John) Metz and Jeffrey (Monica) Alexander; her grandchildren, Alexa, Luke and Genevieve; her sister, Kathy (David) Moff; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends, many of whom are completely clueless as to how they will carry on without her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David A Kramer.

Family and friends may visit 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren.

A second visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Don’t be late. Nancy would disapprove.

A graveside service will take place 3 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.

Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s honor to The Nurses Honor Guard of Eastern Ohio, nursehonorguardofeasternohio.com/donate-1, or the March of Dimes, www.marchofdimes.org.
