Margaret A. ‘Peggy’ Heintzelman 1930-2025

Together again

YOUNGSTOWN — Peggy A. Heintzelman, 94, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025.

She was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Anna Flannery Kirkner. She was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area and resided in Canfield for over 50 years.

She was a charter member of St. Michael Parish in Canfield and, in 2018, became a member of St. Edward Parish in Youngstown.

Peggy lived at Park Vista retirement community on the North Side of Youngstown.

She was a secretary at Commercial Shearing & Stamping before marrying, and later a secretary at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, Georgia.

Her husband William, whom she married Jan. 23, 1954, died in 2011.

When Bill retired from Compco Metal Products, they enjoyed their retirement home in Pelican Bay, Naples, Florida. She enjoyed playing cards, belonged to a book club, was an avid reader and had a bridge club with the same Canfield friends for over 50 years.

Peggy leaves three sons, Scott (Beth), Kurt and Christian Heintzelman; and daughter, Holly Heintzelman; five grandchildren, Colin Heintzelman, Kaylie (James) O’Connor, Alex (Dieter) Gualtieri, Kyle Heintzelman (Dan Martin) and Madeline Heintzelman; and great-grandchildren, Danny, Crew, Kingston and Dean O’Connor, Etta and Rose Gualtieri, Dylan and Camden Martin.

Besides her parents and her husband, dear Bill, Peggy was preceded in death by a son, Eric Hale Heintzelman; sisters, Elizabeth Haustovich, Mary Jane Shaw and Barbara Kapraly; and brother, Patrick Kirkner.

Services will be private, as requested by Peg.

Memorial tributes may be made in Peggy’s name to St. Edward Parish, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Akeso Home Care and Hospice, and her caregiver, Jeff Noone, at her home, who lovingly cared for Peggy in her final months.
