Loretta K. Bortmas 1954-2025

She was born Oct. 1, 1954, in Canton, a daughter of Gordon and Marilyn Olson Wharmby.

Loretta was a 1972 graduate of Liberty High School and worked as a customer service representative for Herrington Benefit Services for several years prior to retiring.

She married Douglas H. Bortmas on Oct. 20, 1990. Together, they shared 32 years of marriage and many happy memories. He preceded her in death, Sept. 29, 2022.

Loretta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown.

She was an avid collector of anything involving bears.

She is survived by a sister, Diana L. (Rick) Hamm of Pulaski, Pa.; a brother, Ronald (Lisa) Wharmby of Girard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown, with the Rev. Duane Jesse officiating.

Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.
