Joseph Parteleno 1959-2025
STRUTHERS — Joseph Parteleno, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025.
Joseph was born Jan. 17, 1959, in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Eleanor Trant Parteleno. He graduated from Struthers High School in 1978. He was an outstanding defensive tackle and an accomplished high jumper for his beloved Wildcats. He spent 38 years working for CSX Railroad, first as a trackman and later as a crew caller.
Joe learned the value of hard work in his mother’s home and his father’s pharmacy. He worked and lived in Jacksonville, Florida, until his retirement in 2015. A true hometown man, he returned to Struthers to enjoy going to high school sporting events, swimming daily at the Jewish Community Center and spending time with his lifelong friends. He enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and golfing with his railroad buddies. He achieved a hole-in-one at his home course, the Champions Club of Jacksonville.
Joe was a brother to all; he was a humanitarian and stood up for those who were treated unfairly. He stood up for what was right even when it wasn’t popular. He was a true humanitarian with a quick wit and a generous heart. He had a tough demeanor, but he really was a gentle man.
Joe leaves his brothers, Paul (Carol) Parteleno of Struthers and Tom (Tammy) Parteleno of Hubbard; three sisters, Eve Parteleno of Poland, Pat Parteleno of Ada and Ceil (John Maier) Parteleno of Andover, Massachusetts; a niece, Lena; and three nephews, Noah, Michael and Leo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Parteleno, and brother, Michael Parteleno.
A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family plans to use any donations they receive in Joseph’s name to establish a scholarship fund to assist students with learning disabilities at Struthers High School who are interested in the building trades.
