James B. Williams 1944-2025

WALLINGFORD, Conn. — James “Jim” Bruce Williams, a cherished husband, father and grandfather of our family, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Born Dec. 1, 1944, in Youngstown, Jim lived a life marked by dedication to his family and friends, and kindness to all.
Growing up in Canfield, a place he held close to his heart throughout his life, he attended John Carroll University, University Heights, where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and a minor in economics. He also earned a Master of Science degree in education from Youngstown State University.
Jim initially pursued a career in teaching, where he made significant contributions at the high school level in both education and sports leadership. He later moved to the packaging industry, showing integrity and professionalism throughout.
He was warmly received by Pat’s family, who readily included him in their dynamic and adventurous lifestyle. He and Pat often traveled to Florida, the Jersey Shore, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, the Caribbean and various other destinations. Jim was committed to his work, family and community, and volunteered for years distributing holiday food baskets with his church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia Lineaweaver Williams; two daughters, Lisa (Lawrence) Bartlett of Wallingford, Kristen (Jeffrey) Williams-Riccardi of Middletown; and two delightful, lovely, grown granddaughters (fondly known as PaPa), Halle Elizabeth and Hanna Elena Riccardi, whom he adored with great pride.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Willis Park and Margaret Lenore Gillingham Williams; his brother, Raymond Charles; sisters, Margaret Ann Johnston and Kathryn Lenore Reese; and niece, Kelly Nicole Reese.
We sincerely thank the Hartford Health Care Hospice Team and hospital staff for their respectful and compassionate care for Jim and his family during this time.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of kindness and steadfastness. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Rest in peace, Jim. You will be deeply missed and cherished forever.
A private memorial service will be held, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Jim’s life and share fond memories.
