Frances Horvath 1956-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Frances Marie “Tyne” Horvath, 68, passed away peacefully at Hospice House on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025.

Tyne was born Sept. 28, 1956, in Youngstown, to Frances M. Palotsee and Robert L. Horvath. Tyne came home from the hospital on the couch pillow, thus her nickname “Tyne.” She grew up on the South Side of Youngstown and made that side of town her home for 68 years.

Attending Sts. Cyril and Methodius School, where her mother was a teacher, she eventually graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1974. She always wished to follow in her mother’s footsteps, so she attended Youngstown State University and received a bachelor’s degree in education.

She taught home economics for several years in Windham and left to pursue a career in insurance sales at various Allstate insurance companies around the area.

Tyne became obsessed with the Weimaraner dog breed when she got her first love, “Gizmo,” in 1986. She raised, bred, trained and had several top-quality show and agility dogs over many years. She was the owner, breeder and trainer of her own pedigreed Weimaraners listed under the kennel name of “Honey Weimaraner.” She had many beloved dogs from several litters and her “Honey Weims” contributed a large and successful bloodline to the AKC world.

Tyne was the president of the Mahoning Shenango Valley Kennel Club, and, through her leadership and direction, the club has flourished and exceeded its membership goals and monetary contributions to local animal charities around the Valley.

She loved summer vacations at Geneva-on-the-Lake with her relatives and friends. It was a very fond memory. She enjoyed taking the “Weims” on long beach walks just so she could enjoy Lake Erie and remember those memories.

She leaves behind two brothers, Robert F. Horvath and Ronald R. Horvath; sister, Paula M. Horvath; niece, Sue E. Mazon; nephew, Nathan S. Horvath; great-niece, Sarah E. Mazon; and great-nephew, Alexander R. Mazon.

Tyne was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sister-in-law, Susan E. Horvath; her nephew-in-law, Edward G. Mazon Jr.; and many of her beloved “Weim” family members.

Tyne would like to thank everyone who took the time to call or visit. “I wish my arms were big enough to hug you all!”

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, and again 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home.
