Donna E. Soges 1958-2025

Donna was born Oct. 8, 1958, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Dorothy Augustine Garland.

A 1976 graduate of Struthers High School, Donna went on to earn her degree in radiologic technology from St. Elizabeth Hospital. She dedicated over 32 years of service as a radiologic technologist and mammographer at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital before retiring in 2011. She was a proud member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).

Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She cherished time spent with her family and friends. In her free time, she found joy in gardening, especially growing flowers and vegetables. She also loved playing cards — particularly poker — and visiting casinos.

She is survived by her husband, Laurence J. Soges, whom she married in May 2008; her son, Derek J. (Drake) Garland of Lowellville; her beloved granddaughter, Dahlia Garland of Lowellville; her brother, John R. (Rhonda) Garland of Hatfield, Pa.; her sister, Cindy A. Rosenberger of Poland; two nieces, Stacie (Daniel) Perez of Lowellville and Abbie Garland of Canada; a nephew, John (Emma) Garland of Pennsylvania; and three great-nieces, Mikala, Mannie and Malia Perez.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her grandson, Odin Garland, and her brother-in-law, Donald Rosenberger.

Family and friends may call 4 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with Randi Pappa officiating.
