Charles R. Heckman 1943-2025

WARREN — Charles R. Heckman, 82, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Charles “Chuck” was born on April 22, 1943, in Warren, a son of the late Charles and Nancy Heckman.

Chuck was a 1962 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. After high school, he was drafted into the military and joined the United States Army. Chuck completed his military obligation by transferring to the Air Force Reserve until he was honorably discharged.

He was employed with General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 2005.

Chuck loved to be outdoors whether he was boating, fishing with his sons, or relaxing in a lounge chair. He also was an excellent cook and always wanted to try new meals he watched on the Cooking Channel. As a family man, he was involved with his children and grandchildren’s activities.

Chuck will be deeply missed by his loving children, Charles (Erin) Heckman of Howland, Brian (Tracy) Heckman of Howland and Sara (Jeff) McClellan of Brookfield; his former wife and friend, Jacquelyn Forte; grandchildren, Ash (Brandon) Hickox, Charles R. Heckman II, Allie Heckman, Adam Heckman, Camryn Heckman, Hunter McKee and Arianna McClellan; and his brothers, Gene and David (Linda) Heckman; along with a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Carolyn Heckman. Lastly, for all those who knew him best, there was often a comparison to him and the Clark Griswold character in National Lampoon’s “Vacation” movies. His dedication to his family and his unique humor style were the cornerstones of his charm. He truly wanted nothing else but to be there for the ones he loved, in some ways it was the only thing he took seriously. Being the best father and friend was his number one priority. So just like the ending of the National Lampoon’s Christmas “Vacation” movie, you can without a doubt say Dad: “I did it!”

Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
