Carol A. Cook 1938-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Carol A. Cook, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at The Inn at Christine Valley.
Born Dec. 26, 1938, in New Castle, Pa., Carol was the daughter of the late Fred and Charlotte Grapentine Miller. She graduated from New Castle High School and went on to earn both her bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in counseling from Youngstown State University.
Carol dedicated her career to helping others, working in Career Services at Youngstown State University until her retirement. She found great joy and purpose in guiding students and helping them find their paths in life. She was also a proud member of the Youngstown Saxon Club.
On Aug. 19, 1955, Carol married the love of her life, William G. Cook. Together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on Aug. 11, 2023.
Carol had a deep love for animals and was rarely without the companionship of a beloved dog — and often a few cats as well. Above all, she cherished her role as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Gary W. (Kathy) Cook, Robert S. (Laura) Cook and William F. (Cheryl) Cook; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
