Timothy W. Blake 1970-2025

HUBBARD — Timothy Wayne Blake, 55, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, unexpectedly, as the co-pilot in a tragic aircraft accident just shortly after takeoff from Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

Tim was born in Sharon, Pa., on Jan. 15, 1970, a son of Timothy Wyatt Blake and Maria “Sue” Mosky Blake.

He was a 1988 graduate of Hubbard High School. Tim loved flying. At the age of 9, he decided he wanted to be a pilot and started flight school at 15.

He earned his aviation degree from AM-Air flight school. He began working as a commercial pilot for U.S. Air, Mesa and USA 3000 International. He also was a flight instructor at Youngstown Airport. In recent years, he was a corporate pilot for Muransky Companies, Winner Aviation and was currently employed as a pilot for Liberty Steel, where he had been a longtime family friend of the Weller family.

Tim also was a certified pyrotechnist and looked forward to setting off fireworks with his brother, Thomas, every Fourth of July with Pyrotecnico Fireworks in New Castle, Pa.

Tim is survived by his mother, Maria; his brother, Thomas Blake; nephews, Cody and Nathan Blake; aunts, Grace (Jay) Huda and Luann (Tom) Morris; and a very special love in his life, Heather Hefner. Also surviving is his furry four-legged friend, Deeter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy; his nephew, Corey Blake; and grandparents, Thomas and Clara Mosky, and Robert and Esther Blake.

Calling hours will take place 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at John Flynn Funeral Home, 2630 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Pastor Randy Emmorey will officiate.
