Thomas A. Gregory 1937-2025

STRUTHERS — Thomas Andrew Gregory, 88, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, June 10, 2025, at Maplecrest Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.

Known affectionately as “Tom” by family and friends, he was born March 16, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Nagy Gregory.

A proud graduate of South High School in the Class of 1956, Tom was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley. Following high school, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

Upon returning home, Tom attended Penn Ohio Junior College.

He worked for Republic Steel and Wean United as a crane man. Later, Tom began a long and dedicated career at General Motors in Lordstown, where he worked in the body shop as a welder for 29 years. He retired in September 1999 and was a proud member of UAW Local 1112.

Tom was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church in Struthers. He was known for his gentle soul.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He loved taking his vacations to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, every year, as well as Hawaii, and bus trips to Branson, Missouri, and Wildwood, New Jersey.

He had a passion for music and a deep love for gardening – his green thumb was well known among those who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, the former Judy Ann Hamrock, whom he married Oct. 17, 1964; two children, Tom S. Gregory of Riverview, Florida, and Tracy L (John) Premec of Dublin; two grandchildren, Tabitha Granchay and Stephanie Granchay, both of Dublin; his sister-in-law, Roni Sue Gregory of Canfield; and two brothers-in-law, Ed (Ozelma) Hamrock of Youngstown and Ron Hamrock of Boardman.
