Starlet D. Thomas 1958-2025

AUSTINTOWN — Starlet Dawn Myers Thomas, 67, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Austinwoods Nursing Center, following an extended illness.

She was born April 29, 1958, in Uniontown, Pa., to the late Ewing and Shirley Tolbert Myers.

Star graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1976 and later graduated from the LPN program at Choffin Career Center. She worked at numerous nursing homes in the area throughout her nursing career and also later worked in real estate.

Because of Star’s candor and wit, she made lasting friendships everywhere she went.

She was a member of Western Reserve United Methodist Church.

Star is survived by two daughters, Sarah (Mike) Maloney of Austintown and Jessica (Devon Creech) Smith of Barberton; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael “MJ” Maloney of Austintown, and Robert Smith and Emma Creech of Barberton; sister, Kathy Myers of Austintown; aunts, Fiorella Silvis of Murrysville, Pa., and June Hardy of Fairchance, Pa.; along with many cousins, extended family members and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at Austinwoods Nursing Center, especially on Unit 300, for the comfort, compassion and friendship they provided to Star and her family over the years; they became a second family. Also, many thanks to Southerncare Hospice for the excellent care and compassion they gave Star during her final months.

Family and friends may call 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, with a service at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.

Per Star’s wishes, interment will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens following cremation.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Starlet’s name to Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, OH 44406.
