Rose Marie Lindquist 1925-2025
COLUMBIANA — Rose Marie Lindquist, 99, passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 21, 2025, at The Woodlands at Hampton Woods.
Born Dec. 14, 1925, in Columbiana, Rose was a daughter of the late Michael B. and Elizabeth Devaltka Bort and was a lifelong resident of the area.
A graduate of North Lima High School, she went on to earn her nursing degree from the Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. Rose devoted her career to caring for others. She served as a staff nurse at the former Southside Hospital for 10 years before continuing her work as a private duty nurse at the former Youngstown Steel Door, retiring in 1990. She was also a proud member of the 1945 U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.
On Oct. 23, 1947, Rose married the love of her life, Gordon Leroy Lindquist Sr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1986.
She is survived by her loving children, Renae (Robert) Yaniglos, Gordon (Irene) Lindquist Jr. and Thomas (Julii) Lindquist; her 16 grandchildren, Matthew (Leslie) Yaniglos, Peter (Ginna) Yaniglos, John (Colette) Yaniglos, Michael Lindquist, Michelle (Chuck) Francis, Mark (Bonnie) Lindquist, Melissa (David Woods) Lindquist, TJ (Kate) Lindquist, Jessica (Jessie) Henkel, Josh and Jessie Gorman, Sara Urs, Erin Ohlin, Lindsay (Matt) Ramun, Jake Urs and Katelyn (John) Urs; and 13 great-grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt and Parker Yaniglos; Kaitlyn and Ethan Francis, Bentley Blakeman, David and Elijah Woods, Maddox Lindquist, Elias and Juniper Henkel, and Helaina and Noah Ohlin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Urs; two brothers, Frank and Myron Bort; and a sister, Elizabeth Hamrock.
Family and friends may call 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m.
The family would like to thank Hampton Woods for the excellent care and compassion given to Rose Marie over the last three years.
