Robert F. Benson 1958-2025

STRUTHERS — Robert “Bob” F. Benson, 66, of Struthers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 21, 1958, in Indiana, Pa., Bob was a son of the late Edward and Margaret Adams Benson. He graduated from Struthers High School in 1977 and made his home in the community he loved.
He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for many years.
On Aug. 13, 1983, Bob married the love of his life, the former Dora Bulatko. Together, they shared nearly 42 years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion and unforgettable memories.
Bob began his career with the City of Struthers in 1998 and held numerous positions over the years. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the city’s safety service director, a role that reflected his deep commitment to public service and his hometown. His life centered around three things: Struthers, golf and family — all of which he served with passion and heart.
An avid golfer, Bob enjoyed countless rounds at Knoll Run Golf Course, where he also worked as a starter. He dedicated many years to Struthers sports, faithfully running the scoreboard and cheering on local athletes. Whether on the course, at a game, or around the dinner table, Bob was a natural teacher and storyteller — always ready to share wisdom, lend a hand or get a laugh.
Above all, Bob was a devoted family man. He proudly carried the title of “Grandpa” and found his greatest joy in time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Dora Benson; son, Robert (Stephanie) Benson of Struthers; daughter, Kimberly (Christopher) Santucci of Youngstown; and his six cherished grandchildren, Elliana Benson, Samantha Benson, Payton Benson, Vincent Santucci, Asher Santucci and Griffey Santucci; brothers, Edward (Anngel) Benson of Campbell and Paul (Tammy) Benson of Goodyear, Arizona; his sister, Terrie Mamounis of Struthers; and many loved nieces and nephews and extended grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James Mamounis.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, OH 44471. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., with military honors concluding the ceremony.
