Robert D. Gatling 1937-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert Douglas Gatling, 88, of 546 Redondo Road, departed this life Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 4:45 p.m. at his residence, following complications from an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Newport News, Virginia, the son of Riddel and Blanche Perkins Gatling, residing in the area for 68 years, coming from Virginia.
Robert was employed with Steel City Milling as a truck driver before retiring in 1995.
He was a member of St. Peters Baptist Church and the Masonic Wick Lodge 481.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling, yard work and watching Westerns.
Left to mourn Robert are four daughters, Ms. Yvonne Whipple, Ms. Valarie White and Mrs. Sandra (Kenneth) Overton of Youngstown and Ms. Darlene Hills of Long Beach, California; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward Gatling, Charlie Gatling and Thomas Gatling; and two sisters, Mrs. Ozilla White and Mrs. Lavinia Davis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home, Youngstown Chapel, with calling hours 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will take place in Belmont Park Cemetery.
