Richard O. Tedrow 1937-2025

POLAND — Richard Owen Tedrow, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Jan. 17, 1937, in Struthers, Richard was the son of Hubert Tedrow and Eleanor Nelson.

He graduated from Struthers High School in 1955 and soon began working at Youngstown Sheet & Tube. In 1960, he was inducted into the United States Army and served honorably at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Fort Gordon, Georgia, and the East Coast Relay Station at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

A lifelong learner and gifted artist, Richard studied art at Youngstown State University, Baldwin-Wallace College and Kent State University. His love for painting and drawing was a constant throughout his life, and several of his works were proudly exhibited at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown.

Following his military service, Richard was employed at the Chrysler Corporation’s Twinsburg Stamping Plant, where he worked until retiring in April 1991. In 2000, he made his home in Boardman.

Richard is survived by his loving siblings, Mary L. (Dale) Snarey of Girard, Judith E. (Richard) Dill of Struthers, Joyce H. (Walter) Pishkur of Youngstown, Kathleen “Kathy” Tedrow of Girard, Susan S. (Gary) Stefanick of Hubbard and Kevin P. (Cheri) Williams of Struthers. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who brought joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Tedrow; his mother, Eleanor (Nelson) Williams; and his brother, Michael Tedrow.

In accordance with Richard’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal funeral service.
