Mary Beth DeOerio 1948-2025

STRUTHERS — Mary Beth DeOerio, 76, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Dec. 31, 1948, in Youngstown, she was a daughter to the late John P. and Lucile Sequella Kukla.

Mary Beth met the love of her life, Barney, in the fall of 1983, and together they shared a beautiful and fulfilling journey. From the moment they joined hands, Barney brought joy, laughter and unwavering support into Mary Beth’s life. Together, they had an amazing life filled with love, companionship and unforgettable memories. They created a home rooted in warmth and unconditional love. Their marriage was a gift that enriched every chapter of Mary Beth’s life, and Barney’s love remained her steady foundation until the very end.

Family was the center of Mary Beth’s world. She lived each day with a heart full of love and devotion for those closest to her. She poured her soul into raising her three children — Larry, Ann and Eric — always putting their needs ahead of her own, guiding them with gentle wisdom and endless care.

Her greatest joy came in watching her family grow, and her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren and so many others as Mum Mare and Mama. She didn’t need hobbies or distractions — her family was everything to her. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother brought her all the fulfillment she ever wanted. Whether sharing quiet moments or celebrating milestones, she was always present — offering love, comfort and pride in every smile and hug.

Mary Beth was also known for her boundless hospitality. It was not unusual for her to welcome someone in need to a holiday celebration, always making sure no one was left out. She was an entertainer at heart and loved to throw a good party. Her signature one-liners could catch anyone off guard and never failed to bring laughter to a room. Her kitchen was always open, her table always full, her heart always giving, and the coffee was always on. Mary Beth’s legacy is one of deep familial love, selfless dedication and a life beautifully lived for those she cherished most.

Mary Beth’s greatest pride was her family and her legacy lives on through the generations she helped shape. She is survived by her husband, Barney DeOerio Jr.; her sister, Linda (Jim) Campana; and three devoted children, Larry (Cheryl) Ryan, Ann (Richard) Johnson and Eric (April) Ryan, each of whom carries forward her strength, warmth and values. Her love extended fully and deeply to her grandchildren, Jordan Ryan, Alexa (Austin) Yemma, Ashleigh (Jacob) Jacubec, Jakob Ryan, Carson Ryan, Colin Ryan, Grace Johnson, Zack Richards, Nate Richards, Jeff (Heather) Johnson, Justin (Sarah) Johnson and Hannah Johnson. That joy multiplied with her great-grandchildren, Peyton, Adrian, Nico, Vienna, Arlo, Ember and Livi, each a shining light in her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family.
