Martin F. Anness 1956-2025

POLAND — Martin Frank Anness, 68, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 7, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman.

He was born Nov. 8, 1956, in Warren, a son of the late Frank and Edna Clark Anness. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown State University. He built a solid career over the years, taking pride in every role he held. Most recently, he worked as a sales engineer at Almega Plastics.

He was a man who lived with purpose and heart, grounded by a deep love for his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, everything he did was with them in mind. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, he loved telling dad jokes — whether they made you laugh or groan — they were always delivered with a grin. A touch of stubbornness added to his charm, a reflection of his strong convictions and unwavering spirit. In his spare time, he found joy in woodworking and carving, creating pieces that were as thoughtful and detailed as he was.

His energy and athleticism followed him through life. Once a lifeguard, he never lost his passion for staying active, enjoying swimming, working out and time spent in nature. Whether he was camping with loved ones or hiking a wooded trail, he found peace outdoors. He had a genuine passion for golf, embracing each round as a favorite escape and a lifelong source of enjoyment and relaxation. His life was rich in laughter, love and simple pleasures, a legacy of strength, humor and devotion.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, the former Lulu Antronica; his children, Brentton (Ashley) Anness, Brittany Anness, Hannah (Mario) Halasa and Noah (Gianna) Anness; his grandchildren, Aspen, Sage and Ezra; his brother, Edward Anness; mother-in-law, Lois Antronica; brother-in-law, Sam Antronica; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Dave) Benson and Carmel (Steve) Massarelli; nephews, Luke (fiancee Natasha Sibanda) Benson, Steven Massarelli and Zane (Savannah Thomas) Massarelli; niece, Anna (Dan) D’Onofrio; great-nephew, Everhett; and his cousins, Joe and Peg McKay.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
