Lloyd C. Durbin 1936-2025

NORTH LIMA — Lloyd Charles Durbin, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Nov. 8, 1936, in Lowellville, the son of Charles and Rose Wollet Durbin, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Lloyd graduated from The Rayen High School before proudly enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served during the closing period of the Korean War with the 2nd Marine Division, Marine Force, Camp Lejeune, as a tank operator. He achieved the rank of corporal and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was released from active duty in 1957 and transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve. Lloyd was honorably discharged completely on Jan. 29, 1962.

Lloyd was a proud member of the Lowellville VFW. He was employed for over 45 years at Commercial Shearing, where he held the position of electrician before retiring in 1996.

Lloyd will be remembered as a humble, gentle man who could make friends with anyone he met. His friendships were deep and enduring. He loved the outdoors — gardening, camping, boating and, especially, water skiing. He also enjoyed golfing with friends in several leagues, reading military history and cheering on his beloved Cleveland Browns and Indians. Above all, Lloyd cherished time with his family, friends and grandchildren, never missing a game, recital or vacation.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of over 64 years, the former Sandra MacFarland, whom he married July 2, 1961. He is also survived by his two children, Diana (Robin) Briggs and Thomas E. Durbin; five grandchildren, Erik Francis, Thomas C. Durbin, Joseph E. Durbin, Taryn Briggs and Alex (Kayla) Francis; a great-granddaughter, Gabby Francis; his sister, Carol Burns; his son’s girlfriend, Kathy Schiffhauer; Steven Schiffhauer, Kathleen (Mike) Allgower, Alexandria Schiffhauer, and fiance, Andriy Dunbar, John (Debbie) Pain and Trevor Pain; as well as nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Pash.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10 to 10:50 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, where a funeral prayer service will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman, with military honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lloyd’s name to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250, dav.org.
