Ilene M. Arthur 1937-2025

Ilene was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Youngstown, daughter of Emilio and Freda Luchette Battista. She was a 1954 graduate of North High School and a graduate of Youngstown Hospital Association in 1957.

For 45 years, Ilene was a registered nurse at Northside Hospital, retiring in 1999. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing and cooking.

Her first husband, Joseph T. O’Hara, whom she married Nov. 26, 1959, passed away March 22, 1988.

Ilene will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family, which includes her husband, Fred Arthur, whom she married Sept. 23, 1989; her children, Joseph T. (Theresa) O’Hara of Glendale, Arizona, Michael P. O’Hara of Hubbard, Kathleen O’Hara of Mars, Pa.,and Timothy (Debbie) O’Hara of Hubbard; Fred’s children, Greg (Donna) Arthur of Hubbard, Dafney (Brendan) Tierney of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Kelvin Arthur (Nick Delciappo) of Whitman, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She also leaves her sister, Judith (John) Mascardine of Hubbard.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband; brothers, Paul Battista and John Battista; daughter-in-law, Kelly O’Hara; and brothers-in-law, Jerome O’Hara and Lee O’Hara.

There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday July 5, 2025, with the Very Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Ilene will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
