Elizabeth DiPiero 1937-2025

GIRARD — Elizabeth “Betty” Pappa DiPiero, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Betty was born in Hubbard, on May 31, 1937, the daughter of James V. and Mary Sperko Pappa. She moved to Girard on Oct. 1, 1960, when she married Henry A. DiPiero.
Betty graduated from St. Patrick School and Hubbard High School. She went on to attend the Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing, graduating in 1958, and later graduated from Youngstown State University in 1981 with her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
Betty was a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital, as well as at Warren General Hospital, and also worked for both Youngstown and Girard local school districts as a school nurse.
Betty was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, Girard Herb Society, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society and two bocce leagues.
Along with bocce, Betty enjoyed golfing and bowling, and had a love for reading, traveling and taking day trips.
She is survived by her son, Donald DiPiero; daughters, Diana Reams and Donna (Christopher) Latimer; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Angela, Dylan, Robert, Carley, Nicholas, Cherilyn, Zachary, Caylee and Maisie; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Emily and Noa.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, who passed away in 1999; her three brothers, Fred, Jack and Jim; and two sisters-in-law, Alice and Fran.
Family and friends will gather for calling hours 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at St. Rose Church in Girard, with a funeral Mass to follow.
Per Betty’s wishes, please make any memorial contributions to a charity of your choice in her honor. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at Shepherd of the Valley for the kindness and care given to Betty, with a special thanks to the friends she made there for the way they came together with their love, support and guidance for Betty, her family and her beloved dog, Abby.
