Edward G. Reeping Jr. 1943-2025

BOARDMAN — Edward G. Reeping Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, with his family by his side.
Born May 26, 1943, in Latrobe, Pa., Edward is the son of Edward G. Reeping Sr. and Stella Smith Reeping.
He was a proud graduate of Latrobe High School, later attending Robert Morris College. His commitment to education continued, and he earned a master’s degree later in life from La Roche University in Pittsburgh.
Edward honorably served his country in the United States Army during peacetime and was discharged on May 31, 1967.
He went on to have a long and fulfilling career in the medical field, working in laboratory administration. Following his retirement in 2017, he moved to the Youngstown area to be closer to family.
Never one to sit still and always drawn to people, Edward later worked at Giant Eagle in Canfield, where he found joy in connecting with customers and made many friendships.
Edward was a devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Church.
In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, golfing, going to the movies and fine dining.
He leaves behind his four children, Laura (Richard) Scherczinger, Thomas (Pamela) Reeping, Michael Reeping and Kim (Greg) Gruben; eight beloved grandchildren; and his former spouse of many years, Judith Reeping. He also will be remembered fondly by many cousins and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joan Murray.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9 to 9:50 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, in the chapel of St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, where a funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. David Weikart.
Entombment will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Edward’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Hospice of the Valley for its compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
