Donna M. Clayton 1950-2025

A lifelong resident of Youngstown, Donna, born Aug. 28, 1950, was the daughter of Edward P. Griffin and Ruth Harris.

Employed as a parent engagement coordinator for Youngstown Early College, Donna was a graduate of East High School. She was hired by Packard Electric Division of General Motors and retired after 30-plus years. She attended Youngstown State University and earned an associate degree in business.

Donna was a member of St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church, where she was active in the senior gospel choir and was a praise team warrior.

She enjoyed gardening and loved being with her family.

She married Vincent Clayton on Feb.16, 1990, who passed in 2015.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Darlene Drake of Youngstown; and son, Carl Thompson of Youngstown; a sister, Elaine (Edwin) Robinson; granddaughters, Bianca (Hanibal) Miner, Saria Drake and Dawn Drake; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Donald Drake Jr.; and brothers, Arthur Griffin and Edwin Griffin Jr.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, with viewing at 10 a.m., at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church, 521 E. Earle Ave., Youngstown.
