Dale W. Stryffeler 1932-2025

CANFIELD — Dale W. Stryffeler, 92, passed away Monday evening, July 21, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Dale was born July 23, 1932, in Ellsworth, a son of the late Emanuel B. and Olive E. Wehr Stryffeler, and was a lifelong area resident.

He graduated from Jackson-Milton High School in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Army.

Dale began his career at East Ohio Gas Company as a laborer and, through dedication and hard work, retired in 1990 as a foreman in management.

A devoted member of Canfield United Methodist Church, Dale was active in church life and often volunteered for mission trips.

He enjoyed staying busy, always lending a hand to family and friends. Whether it was woodworking, building decks or constructing handicap ramps for those in need, Dale was generous with his time and talents.

An avid Ohio sports fan, he faithfully rooted for the Guardians, Buckeyes, Cavaliers and even the Browns. He was a board member of the Canfield Baseball Club, where he had also served as president. He also had a passion for gardening and took great joy in tending to his vegetable garden each season.

Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Jean A. Hunt Stryffeler, whom he married March 23, 1957. Jean passed away Feb. 18, 2025.

He is survived by his four children, Lori (Greg) Moff of Canfield, Jane (Steve) Moff of Columbiana, Jill (Tom) Keller of Napoleon and Dale B. (Barb) Stryffeler of Columbiana. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory. Dale also leaves his brother, David (Teresa) Stryffeler.

Besides his parents and his wife, Dale was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie (Richard) Noble, and a brother, Myron (Sally) Stryffeler.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Canfield United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
