Caroline M. Vodhanel 1965-2025

CAMPBELL — Caroline M. Vodhanel, 59, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Caroline was born Dec. 13, 1965, in Youngstown, a daughter of Edward and Geraldine Kachmer Vodhanel.

She was a 1984 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and Mahoning County Joint Vocational School, where she studied horticulture.

Caroline worked at Postal Church, Postal Sort and Boardman Molded Plastics as a line worker.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Caroline enjoyed cultivating butterflies and was known as “The Butterfly Lady of Campbell.” She loved flowers and gardening, growing plants and vegetables from seeds. She especially enjoyed going on walks to the park and visiting her friends. Caroline had a deep love for animals, especially her dog, Linus, and her cat, Gracie. She also liked to cook, was an excellent baker and could bake anything from scratch. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Guardians. Caroline will always be remembered as a very kind person.

Caroline will be deeply missed and always remembered by her mother, Geraldine Vodhanel of Campbell, with whom she made her home; her sisters, Barbara Muscolo of Youngstown, Susan (Brian) Blanchard of Sedona, Arizona, and Diane Vodhanel of Canfield; and nephews and nieces, Joseph, Melanie (Lucas) and Adriana Muscolo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Vodhanel; her paternal grandparents, Mike and Mary Vodhanel; and her maternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Kachmer.

The Vodhanel family has entrusted Caroline’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Calling hours will be 2 to 2:45 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.
