Betty L. Drennen 1930-2025

Together again

CHAMPION — Betty L. Drennen, 94, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at her home, with her family by her side.

Betty was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of Arthur and Rhea Keyman Murphy. She worked for Trumbull Lamp and then retired after 17 years as an account clerk from Litco Co. in Vienna.

Betty was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church. She had been a past president for the Liberty Mothers Club from 1972 to 1973.

Betty enjoyed many cruise vacations in her lifetime, square dancing with her husband John, gardening, reading and cooking, and had a great devotion to her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Richard Drennen (Lorraine, deceased) of Girard, Ronald (Judy) Drennen of Liberty and Randall (Karen) Drennen of Champion; grandchildren, Bryan (Jenn), Brad (Beth), Blake (Sarah), Jay (Annie), Jon (Jaime), Jamey (Melanie) and Kate (Johnathon); and great-grandchildren, Haley (Ethan), Riley (Alyssa), Emily, Star, Savannah, Logan, Olive, Alivia, Amelia and Parker.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Drennen, whom she married March 10, 1951, and who died Sept. 12, 2004; her sister, Mary Bartlomain; her brother, Thomas Murphy; and her daughter-in-law, Lorraine Drennen.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Betty will be laid to rest in Niles Union Cemetery next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests contributions to a charity of choice in Betty’s memory.
