Sister Bridget Nolan 1940-2025

CANFIELD — Sister Bridget Nolan, OSU, died on Monday, June 24, 2025, at the Ursuline Motherhouse in Canfield. She was 84.

Kathleen H. Nolan was born on Oct. 7, 1940, the daughter of Donald and Georgia Barton Nolan. She graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1959. She earned a BS in Education in 1962 from Youngstown State University. Sister Bridget entered the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown on Sept. 10, 1959, and professed final vows on Aug. 8, 1965.

She earned an MA in Education from Loyola University, Chicago, in 1972. She also did post-graduate work at Loyola University, New Orleans where she earned a Certificate of Pastoral Studies, and Chestnut Hill College where she earned a Certificate of Specialized Study in Spirituality. In addition, she earned a diploma in Writing for Magazines at the Institute of Children’s Literature.

In her 54 years of active ministry, Sister Bridget taught at St. Rose, Girard, St. Nicholas, Struthers, Immaculate Conception and Sacred Heart, Youngstown, St. Charles, Boardman and Holy Family, Poland. She also served as principal at Holy Family. In addition, Sister Bridget worked in parish ministry at St. Charles, Boardman and Immaculate Conception, Ravenna.

Sister Bridget served as an administrator of the Ursuline Motherhouse for several years, as well as an archivist for the community.

Sister Bridget leaves her sisters in Community; sisters, Carol Hetherington of Bethany, Oklahoma, and Rita Klesch of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; a brother, Robert of Guthrie, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Donald Nolan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Ursuline Motherhouse, 4250 Shields Road, Canfield, where friends may call from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
