Robert C. Timms 1944-2025

POLAND — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Charles Timms, who left this world peacefully Sunday, June 15, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born in Youngstown on April 13, 1944, he was a proud graduate of Boardman High School, Class of 1964. Robert lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, community and deep love for his family and friends.

Robert was a true jack-of-all-trades with an unmatched work ethic and a curious mind that led him through a remarkable and diverse career. He attended Youngstown State University, always eager to learn and grow. Over the years, he held positions at McKenzie Muffler, Bucyrus Erie, General Motors, Steel Door, North Star Steel / Vallourec Star (where he served as a respected crane supervisor) and the Morton Salt Mine. He also was the proud owner of Parker’s Ice Cream from 1983 to 1988, bringing smiles to countless faces.

His hands were never idle and neither was his spirit. Robert spent summers of his youth getting into harmless mischief at Geneva-on-the-Lake, memories he cherished so deeply that he later took great joy in organizing reunions with his childhood friends.

He proudly served his country as a tank commander in the National Guard, carrying himself with the discipline, leadership and honor that defined his life.

A man of deep roots and enduring friendships, Robert was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) and the Gaelic Society, celebrating his Irish heritage and love for camaraderie. He also was an active member of American Legion Post 103, where he found community among fellow veterans.

Robert found peace and joy near Lake Erie, where the breeze, the view and the company of loved ones brought him calm. His sense of humor, wisdom and the steady presence he brought into every room will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

He married his high school sweetheart, Katherine Farragher, on April 16, 1966. They were blessed to have almost 60 years together. They enjoyed many common interests such as birdwatching, gardening, collecting and restoring antiques, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Timms of Poland; daughters, Shannon Tareshawty (Brian) of Canfield, Kristen Bostocky (Jason) of Canfield, Erin Timms (Joe Pedaline) of Youngstown; and grandchildren, who include Kevin (Lori) Trebella of Struthers, Andrew Lizzi of Philadelphia, Pa., Tyler Tareshawty (Maddie) of Akron, Gabrielle Tareshawty of Canfield, Riley Timms (Kelly) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bryson Tareshawty of Buffalo, New York, and Zachary Bostocky of Canfield.

He also leaves all of his extended Farragher and Timms family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Sean Timms; his brother, Rick Timms; and his parents, Myron and Mildred (Boniker) Timms.

Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, and 11 to 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church.
