Lois C. Cole 1939-2025

AUSTINTOWN — Lois C. Cole, 85, passed away Sunday morning, June 22, 2025, with her family by her side, at Austintown Health Care Center, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Oil City, Pa., a daughter of Arnold and Florence Wheeler Platt.

Lois was a 1958 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked as a sales associate for JCPenney in the Southern Park Mall for 25 years prior to retiring in 2003.

She and her husband, Will, met in high school. Together, they shared many wonderful years and happy memories before his passing on April 22, 2020.

Lois was a member of Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Good Timers and many card clubs. She loved the water, especially Lake Erie. Any chance she got she would walk the beaches of the lake. She also was a true animal lover, especially dogs. She loved watching dog shows and had many beloved dogs throughout her life. Watching for deer to visit her yard, as well as the birds, was another favorite. She was an avid fan of wildlife, too. A few of her other favorite activities were gardening, especially her flowers, reading, shopping and traveling within the states. She always looked forward to summer trips. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought so much joy to her life. She so enjoyed attending and watching their sports and activities. She cherished the time she spent with family and we cherished the time we had with her. She will be missed terribly.

She is survived by three children, Terri (Mike) Rasor of Austintown, Karen Cole of Austintown and Brian (Becky) Cole of Cuyahoga Falls. She also leaves behind a sister, Karen Platt of Austintown; five grandchildren, Laura (Shaun), Michael (Cara), Dan, Bryce and Avery; five great-grandchildren, Savannah, Rhett, Riley, Reed and Ava; as well as many beloved cousins and friends. She also leaves behind her grandpups, Rusty, Mocha, Cheyenne, Dixie and Barry.

Besides her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., with Pastor Ron Blakeman officiating.

Friends may call 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in Green Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Canfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hope Center for Cancer Care or The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project in her memory.
