Leslie W. Thomas 1933-2025

Leslie was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Liberty Township, to Leslie and Trevia Miller Thomas.

Leslie, also known as “Les,” worked hard at Ironworkers Local 207 union to support his family. He was very proud to be an ironworker, and those who knew him remember him for his exceptional work ethic and dedication to his trade.

Though his demanding job didn’t leave much room for hobbies, in his free time, Les was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan and never missed a game. He would be seen wearing their scarlet and gray colors on any given day of the week.

Along with his parents, Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Thomas, who passed Nov. 3, 2008; sister, June Bowman; and brother, Bill Thomas.

He is survived by his children, Leslie Thomas, Robert Thomas, April Kirkwood and Jeff (Stephanie) Thomas; his grandchildren, Melanie (Jamie) Battison, Leslie (Stacy) Thomas, Mathew Thomas, Dana (Curtis) Nystrom and Grant (Chrissy) Kirkwood; great-grandchildren, Hannah Thomas, Piper Nystrom and Axelia Nystrom; and his sister, Beverly Kocher.

Family and friends can visit at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, with a service to follow at 11 a.m., at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

Leslie will be laid to rest in a family mausoleum in Crown Hill Cemetery in Vienna, next to his wife, Beverly.
