John Evans 1944-2025

CANFIELD — John Evans, 80, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Youngstown, the son of Ruth and Richard Evans.
John was a 1962 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He attended Youngstown State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering in 1968.
Upon graduation, John was employed by several manufacturers of steel foundry equipment in sales. His work, which he found very rewarding, took him to various countries.
John was a member of First Covenant Church in Boardman. He loved golf and enjoyed time at his cabin.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Evans of Canfield, whom he married Aug. 16, 2002; his faithful friend and companion, Barney; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) West; son, John Evans; grandchildren, John West, Ella West and Evan West; nephew, Dr. Charles VanDyke; niece, Karen VanDyke of Columbiana, and her son, Ryan; stepdaughter, Erica Creque; son-in-law, Don Creque; and three stepgrandchildren, Foster and Liam Creque of North Las Vegas, and Charley Baun of Raleigh, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and faithful friend, Cloe; his sister, Norma Evans VanDyke of Youngstown; as well as his stepson, Chris Baun of North Carolina.
A funeral service will be 5 p.m. June 18, 2025, at First Covenant Church in Boardman, 5210 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH 44512, with calling hours 3 to 5 p.m.
A special note of thanks and much gratitude is extended to John’s nephew, Chuckie, for the care and support he provided over the years. They had a special relationship.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
