Elaine Moskosky 1939-2025

COLUMBUS — Elaine “Penny” Moskosky, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 2, 2025, at her care facility in Columbus, having spent her last week together with her family.

Penny was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Youngstown, to Peter and Mary Catherine “Sis” Skelley Misko, and resided in Campbell for more than 80 years.

She graduated from Campbell Memorial High School, Class of 1956, attended Youngstown College and worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube for several years before becoming a statistician for the P&LE Railroad for more than 30 years until its closing and her retirement.

Penny was a lifelong parishioner at Sacred Heart church in Youngstown. She was an avid Red Devil from her days as cheerleader captain through her many years of passionate service with the alumni association, working with scholarships, reunions, homecoming and other events to benefit students and bring Memorial alumni together.

Penny maintained many cherished friends with whom she shared lifetime bonds and traveled extensively.

She and her husband were very proud to build their own house in the early 1970s and to raise their family in Campbell.

Most of all, Penny cared about family, whether as a daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, niece or friend, she was always there for family. Her strength, fight, courage and determination, no matter what the adversity, will always be her proud and everlasting gift and inspiration for her family and all who loved her.

Penny is survived by her two children, Jim Moskosky (Carolina) and Cindy Laux (Andy); four grandchildren, Carolina Moskosky, James Moskosky, Christopher Moskosky and Jackson Laux; sister, Lynn Neely (Mark); and nephew, Brett Neely (Cara).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Moskosky (1991); her sister, Kathleen Misko (2012); and her parents.

Penny’s care was entrusted to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Angela Merici Parish (formerly Sacred Heart). Friends and family will be received 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

She will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery in Lowellville.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made in Penny’s honor to the Campbell Memorial Alumni Association, P.O. Box 23, Campbell, OH 44405.
