Edith Ann Sinclair 1942-2025

BOARDMAN — Edith Ann “Edie” Sinclair, 82, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Edie was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Youngstown, the daughter of Clarence and Marcella Dougherty Stiffler. She married the love of her life, John Sinclair, on July 30, 1960, and they spent 54 wonderful years together. Edie was a 1960 graduate of South High School in Youngstown and a 1977 graduate of Youngstown State University School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and office manager for Dr. Nicholas Garritano and Dr. Robert Spratt. She later worked for CareSource and UnitedHealthcare.

Edie loved life, cherished friendships and never had an unkind word for anyone. Some of her favorite things included Saturday night date night with John, having a great meal with family and friends at The Upstairs Lounge or the Blue Wolf Tavern, singing along with Queen or David Allan Coe, telling her friends that she has NFL (if you know you know!) and cooking breakfast at 3 a.m. for the Coconut crazies after singing “Crazy” by Patsy Cline all night. She will be missed.

Edie took great pleasure in following the scholastic and athletic accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Edie loved her family, and, in return, she was much loved.

Edie is survived by her loving children, John F. (Simone) Sinclair, Jill Mettille and Charles (Mary) Sinclair; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Sinclair, Tyler (Kira) Mettille, Mackenzie Mettille, Alexis Mettille, Theresa Sinclair, Charles Sinclair, Marcella Sinclair and Nicholas Sinclair; two great-grandchildren, Maya Mettille and Miles Mettille; and her sister, Suellen (Michael) Weir.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edie was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Kevin Stiffler; and her sister, Marcia Hanna.

Special thanks go out to her cousin and great friend, Sally Landis, and also her good friends who supported her during her illness, Pam Planey, Patricia Rodriguez Lozano and Donna Slivanya, for all that they have done for Edie. She appreciated the friendship and camaraderie from all of you.

Family and friends will be received 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Family and friends of Edith may visit www.foxfuneralhome.org to view this obituary and to give condolences to the Sinclair family.
