Donald H. Snyder Jr. 1943-2025

NEW SPRINGFIELD — Donald H. Snyder Jr., 81, passed away peacefully at his home in New Springfield, Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2025.

Mr. Snyder was born on July 8, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of Donald H. and Margaret Williams Snyder Sr.

A Springfield Local high school graduate, Donald helped his parents start Snyder’s Antique Auto Parts in New Springfield. Then in the mid 80’s, he left to pursue his real passion, Snyder & Son Farms, grain & cattle farm, including a trucking business.

He enjoyed his antique car collection and semi-truck pulling. Don’s car collection turned into Snyder Specialty Cars, an automotive museum and car restoration business. Don became quite the celebrity semi-truck pulling “Mr. Nasty” with many loyal fans cheering him on to eventually become the 2002 champion.

Don was a dedicated member of the East Palestine First Church of Christ, member of the Canfield Fair Board, Youngstown Chapter of Model T Ford Club, Young Farmers, Springfield Township Ruritan, Springfield Mutual Insurance Board, Allen Masonic Lodge #276 and Youngstown Shrine Club.

Don leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, the former Karen Bonar, whom he married April 3, 1964, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary; his sons, Donald H. (Sheri) Snyder III and Bryan (Rachael) Snyder; his daughters, Amy (Michael) Crowe and Julie (David) Crowe; grandchildren, Donald “Donnie” Snyder IV, Brittany Jepson, Kelly Snyder, Mackenzie Kolehmainen, Sarah Withers, Spencer Snyder, David (Isaac) Crowe, Michael (Gabe) Crowe, Lacey Snyder, Rachel Gumble, Quinnlan Allen and Allison Sauerwein; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, David Snyder; sister, Maggie (Bill) Mullen; and brother-in-law, Al Gugliotti.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Gugliotti.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St., North Lima.

Funeral services will be private.
