Darci L. Johns 1965-2025

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Darci Lynn Johns, 59, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. She had been battling pneumonia since January and was told in April her cancer had returned. She fought six long weeks in the hospital and was able to complete four radiation treatments, but ultimately her time had come.
Born June 19, 1965, in Ashland, she was a beloved daughter to Judson Conrad Brewer and Ida Jean Wilson Brewer, and spent her adult life as an area resident.
Darci was a graduate of Springfield Local High School, Class of 1983, and was credentialed through the NCCAP of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She spent all of her working life helping the elderly as an activities director at several skilled nursing facilities for many years prior to her retirement. Helping others was a passion of hers; she made many lifelong friends with colleagues and residents, doing what she truly loved!
Darci married her husband, Zane “Mike” Johns, on May 31, 2008. This year they celebrated 17 years of marriage, though they had dated for eight years before getting married.
Darci’s favorite place in the world was the beach. She went every chance she got! Her family, her friends and her animals were everything to her, and she did her best to make sure all knew how much they meant to her.
In addition to her loving husband, Zane “Mike” Johns of New Middletown, she is survived by her father, Judson C. Brewer of Columbiana; daughter, Ashley N. Miller (Nate Burkhart) of New Springfield; a stepson, Zane M. Johns of Struthers; and two brothers, Steven K. Brewer of New Middletown and Landon Brewer of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Darci prided herself on being called “Aunt Darc” to her many nieces and nephews, and was an honorary mother to anyone who may have needed her!
She was preceded in death by her mother, “Jeannie”; as well as her sister, Karen Brewer; and a grandson, Cameron Edward Burkhart.
Calling hours will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025, until the time of service at 6 p.m., at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270. N. Main St., Poland, OH 44514.
