Blagoy L. Callow 1949-2025

GIRARD — Blagoy L. “Bob” Callow, 75, passed away Monday evening, June 2, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, following a brief illness, with his family by his side.
Bob was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Niles, a son of the late Leon and Katie Desovich Callow, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1968 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and held several jobs throughout his life, including working at U.S. Steel McDonald Works and Isaly’s Dairy. Most recently, Bob worked as a corrections officer with the Trumbull Correctional Institution (TCI) for 15 years before retiring in 2010.
Bob was a member of St. George Croatian Lodge 66, Niles McKinley Lodge No. 794 of Free and Accepted Masons, and the Catholic War Veterans John J. Buckley Post 1292. He enjoyed traveling – especially his trip to Australia to visit family – as well as hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Lapushansky Callow, whom he married June 9, 2012; four brothers, Carl Callow of Niles, Eugene (Vicki) Callow of Warren, Joseph (Beverly) Callow of Cleveland and Veliko (Karen) Callow of Girard; his aunt, Anne Szekely of Southington; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; extended family members in Australia; and countless friends.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail A. Hoffman Callow; three brothers, Earl, Cyril and Mitchell Callow; and a sister, Kalina Braun.
Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
An additional calling hour will be held 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a Masonic service at 11:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in Niles Union Cemetery.
