Barbara J. Wilkinson 1940-2025

Barbara was born Nov. 10, 1940, in Marietta, the daughter of the late Jack S. and Elizabeth “Betty” N. Nicholson Walp. She moved to the Youngstown area as a child and was a proud graduate of South High School, Class of 1958.

A talented concert pianist in her youth, Barbara traveled to competitions and earned numerous awards for her performances. She dedicated 29 years to the Boardman Local School District as an instructional aide before retiring in 2002. Barbara was a devoted educator, an avid reader and always cherished her lunches with fellow teacher retirees.

Above all, she was devoted to her family. She took great joy in hosting holiday gatherings and created lasting memories with her grandchildren — especially during their outings to get their nails done, a tradition she treasured.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sue (Brett) Buzard of Centerville; her son, Curtis (Kathleen) Bodamer of Boardman; stepdaughter, Sheryl Mook of Boardman; and stepsons, Kevin (Virginia) Wilkinson and Scott Wilkinson, both of Boardman. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jack D. (Deena) Walp of Youngstown; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry “Ray” Wilkinson, whom she married March 11, 1966, and who passed away Sept. 25, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jodi Shaw; and a son-in-law, Donald Mook.

Family and friends may call noon to 12:45 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, OH 44509.
