Willis Morrison 1940-2025

YOUNGSTOWN – Mr. Willis Morrison, 85, transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Hospice House, with his family at his side.

Mr. Morrison, affectionately known as “Bill,” was born March 24, 1940, in Youngstown, a son of Ira and Augusta Myers Morrison. He was a 1958 graduate of North High School.

Willis had been employed with General Motors Lordstown for over 30 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a dedicated member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He enjoyed line dancing, fishing, going to the casino and traveling, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Willis was one of the founding members of the Sharon Line Reunion Committee.

Above all, Willis loved being with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his loving family.

He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life and legacy, three sons, Donald (Robine) Morrison of McKinney, Texas, David Morrison of Youngstown and Douglas Morrison of Columbus; two granddaughters, Eboni Morrison and Kayla (Tiana) Griffin; two great-grandsons, Maverick and Easton Anderson; and a host of loving family and friends.

Besides his parents, Willis was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, the former Marjorie Smith, whom he married Dec. 6, 1962, and who passed away in May 2017; a brother, Theodis Morrison; and a sister, Elverna Morrison-King.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown.

A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m.

Ministry of comfort, love and dignity entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
