Theresa Vivacqua 1924-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Theresa Vivacqua, 100, of the West Side, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, May 20, 2025, at The Inn at Christine Valley, after a long and fulfilling life devoted to her family, faith and nursing.
Theresa was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Canton, a daughter of the late Nick and Marsella Katseas. She graduated from Canton McKinley High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. In 1959, she moved to the Youngstown area, which she proudly called home for the remainder of her life.
Theresa worked as a registered nurse for 40 years, caring for patients at Canton Timken Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital until her retirement in 1984.
A devoted parishioner of St. Brendan Church, Theresa sang in the choir and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, the 60+ Club and was recently recognized as the church’s oldest living member. She also participated in the St. Christine Senior Citizens and the SS. Peter and Paul Golden Agers.
Theresa found joy in cooking and hosting weekly Sunday dinners for her family. She loved to dance and was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Theresa is survived by her three sons, Joseph M. (Linda) Vivacqua of Poland, Ronald D. Vivacqua of Youngstown and Gary J. Vivacqua of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Dan Vivacqua and Dayna (Joe) Revetti; a great-grandson, Rocco Revetti; and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Kaytia; and a sister, Irene Dambroski.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
