Susan E. Paczak 1943-2025

AUSTINTOWN — Susan E. Paczak passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the age of 81.

She was born Dec. 14, 1943, in Youngstown, a daughter of Garrett Barry and the former Margaret Price.

Susan was a 1961 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and received her nursing degree from Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a proud, lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, serving as an executive at the Lake to River Girl Scout Council.

A devoted member of St. Joseph Church, Susan was a lay leader and distributor. She also contributed as a lay minister during mid-week services. As a longstanding member and former president of the Mother Seton III Catholic Organization, Susan remained committed to supporting her fellow parishioners. Susan was also a member of the 2002-2003 Leadership Mahoning Valley class.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Barry.

Susan leaves to mourn her passing but rejoice in her peace, her beloved husband, John Paczak, whom she married Aug. 13, 1966; her daughters, Meg (Jarod) Silver of Poland and Jennifer (Raymond) Capezzuto of Austintown; her son, Andrew (Elizabeth) Paczak of Columbus; sister, Kathleen Ward of Cleveland; brothers, John (Carolyn) Barry of Liberty and Matthew (Brenda) Barry of Austintown; and seven grandchildren, Noah Silver, Bekah Silver, Jacob (Lucia DeChurch) Capezzuto, Joey (Dana) Capezzuto, Chase (Dakota Doles) Paczak, Addison Paczak and Garrett Paczak.

Calling hours will be 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Church.
